Senior Citizens Get Tour of Simcoe Elementary

Senior citizens from Wapato got to tour the new Simcoe Elementary School in early June as part of Superintendent Becky Imler’s Senior Citizens Lunch series.  During their guided tour of the 21 classroom school they learned how it was built at no cost to the local taxpayers but was paid for with a State K-3 class Size Reduction Grant of $13.7-million the District received in 2016.   In addition to the tour the Seniors were informed of some of the safety & security procedures in place at Simcoe and around the rest of the District.  Superintendent Imler also shared with the group the District’s plans to ask school district voters in a few years to approve a bond to replace the aging Camas and Satus Elementary Schools.  Simcoe will be used for the 2018 elementary summer school session starting June 25th and then will open for the 2018-2019 school year serving Kindergarten through 2nd Grade students.
